premenstrual syndrome (PMS)

A disorder involving a range of symptoms that begin in the seven to 14 days before menstruation. Symptoms include headaches, irritability, mood swings, lethargy, anxiety and breast swelling/tenderness. Once menstruation begins, the symptoms usually subside.
